Irish Cream Tiramisu

Irish Cream Tiramisu, delish!

It’s finally the weekend!

And it’s an extra joyous weekend because it’s the term break next week, hurrah! So, one for good cheer: I decided to make some tiramisu.

(No, actually it’s more like I finally found a day I could spare four over hours without ending up feeling guilty because I neglected some of my readings and what a long sentence this is to say with one breath, ha.)

I took the classic version of this Italian dessert and replaced the Marsala wine with Baileys.

Mmmm, Baileys. Coffee. Irish cream. Liqueur. Crème caramel. You get my drift.

The Coffee Daily

It was a quiet Sunday when I, together with an old friend of mine, decided to catch up over a  little coffee (and tea, and cake).

It’s been four years, but as we’ve found, some things never change. The choice of place (he recommended) was perfect too — absolutely fitting for the kind of nostalgia we needed.

This is definitely one place I’d consider a “hidden find”, and literally as well. For those unfamiliar with the north-east area, I would say locating the café might be a challenge. Then again, if you’re fond of Serangoon Gardens (cue: Chomp Chomp and the like), this little den is just on the way in.

Don’t let its location stop you from paying a visit though, because I’m quite sure you’re gonna like what you find here 😉

Count your blessings because I’m about to reveal one of Serangoon’s probably best-kept secrets…

Banana, Walnut and Almond Biscotti Bars

It’s a lazy Labour Day. Ironic but true. Thank God it’s a public holiday! And there’s nothing like enjoying the foods of your own labour (nope, no pun intended there). Well, the only type of labour I’d be happy to engage myself in on a day like this is some work in the kitchen. I practically get lost in a world of my own in there. It’s strangely terribly therapeutic :’)

So last night I noticed an overripe banana sitting lonely in the fridge. It was the perfect baking banana jumping right out at me. It was time to do something about it. I stumbled upon this banana-pecan biscotti recipe on WordPress that sounded just lovely.

I’ve always been tempted to buy a biscotti or two when I’m at Starbucks. They look so… Tempting. But unfortunately I can’t bear to always part with my money that way. Sometimes you’ve to be realistic and know you can’t always “live to eat”; I have to resort to “eating to live”.

With these healthy and superbly yummy biscotti bars so simple to make, it’s time to say hi to getting more bang for your buck.
